Our client, a retired civil servant wanted to make a strategic investment in Ibeju Lekki because it is fast rising. He was happy to be purchasing from a Surveyor who offered him a huge discount.
We conducted our due diligence for him. Our surface search showed that the documents and Certificate of Occupancy were validly registered and issued by the Lagos State Government.
HOWEVER a deeper search showed that the Certificate of Occupancy had been suspended by the Lagos State Government more than three months earlier. We also discovered that the Family Members wanted to get quick cash.
We always advice a deeper search on properties beyond just the documents/coordinates search.
